Spring has properly arrived now, hasn't it? The kind of spring where you actually want to go outside. Where you can feel the warmth on your face and think, "Yes, more of this!"
I've been thinking about how differently we approach our routines when the weather changes. In winter, everything is about protection and coverage. Layers upon layers, both in our clothing and on our skin. But spring asks us to lighten up and to pare back. To breathe.
This morning I went for a walk before breakfast - something I never do in winter because, honestly, why would I? - and I noticed how different my skin felt in the fresh air. Alive. Awake. Like it was actually doing its job of being skin rather than just being a surface for makeup to sit on.
It made me realise something: the best thing we can do for our skin this time of year isn't necessarily about the products we use. It's about how we live. Fresh air and exercise. Drinking enough water (I know, I know, we all say it, but actually doing it makes such a difference). Taking time for ourselves, even just ten minutes to sit with a cup of tea and do absolutely nothing.
Because when you feel good, you look good. And makeup can enhance that, but it can't create it from nothing. The glow has to come from somewhere real.
That said, there are some brilliant shortcuts. Our I-Brighten Eye Shadow Palette has become my spring staple because it genuinely does make me look more awake, even on mornings when I'm definitely not. A sweep of the lighter shades on the lid after the primer, a bit of definition in the crease, and suddenly I look like someone who got eight hours of sleep, went for a morning jog and ready to roll on with the day. (The reality: six hours and a strong coffee, but who's counting?)
The thing about spring is that it strips away all the excuses. You can't blame the harsh winter light anymore. You can't hide behind heavy makeup because it feels wrong with the season. Everything is lighter, brighter, more honest. And honestly? I think that's a good thing.
It forces us to focus on what actually matters: skin health, not coverage. Confidence, not concealment. Looking like ourselves, just well-rested and happy to be here.
So as we move into the warmer months, I'm making a pact with myself to keep things simple. A good skincare routine (hydration is everything). A foundation that feels like nothing but looks like something (our Skin Repair Perfect Canvas Treatment Foundation, mixed with Hydra Peptide Fusion Daily Defence SPF30 Moisturiser, is my current obsession). A bit of definition where it counts—brows, lashes, a touch of colour on the cheeks and lips.
That's it. That's the look. Simple, confident, you.
At the end of the day, that's what all of this is about, isn't it? Not transformation, not disguise, just enhancement. Showing up as the best version of ourselves, whatever the season.
And if that best version involves a 5-minute eye routine and a good mascara? Well, that's what our Eye Lift Set is for. Everything you need for bright, defined eyes that still look natural in spring light. No drama. No fuss. Just you, looking like you've got your life together, even if you're still working out what's for dinner.
Spring always feels like a fresh start, doesn't it? A chance to reset, refocus, remember what actually makes us feel good. And this year, I'm choosing simple over complicated. Confident over perfect. Real over filtered.
Here's to spring, in all its imperfect, beautiful, bright-eyed glory.
With love and lighter layers, Grace x
