Autumn Beauty Reset

There's a particular morning every year when you reach for the light jacket out of habit and immediately regret it. The mornings have gone crisp without much warning, the radiators have quietly clicked back on, and somewhere in the back of a drawer, your 30 denier tights are having a moment of vindication. Autumn's properly arrived, but no, not the calendar version, the actual one your skin's already clocked before you have.

We think your makeup bag deserves to catch up too. Not a detox, nor a big dramatic clear-out with a bin bag and regrets (even if it’s oddly satisfying to see just how many nearly-empties we’ve been unknowingly keeping as we wave them off). Instead, an honest look at what's actually in there — and, more specifically, why your foundation's been doing that thing lately. Oh, you know the one. Sits fine everywhere except the creases of your nose, or along the jaw, or wherever your skin's decided to get a bit dry and stubborn about it (hello forehead). Cakey by lunchtime, clinging on for dear life in all the wrong places. Marvellous…

That's not you doing something wrong, by the way. It's just a formula that isn't quite hydrating enough for what your skin's asking for right now, which, fair enough, changes with the season, same as everything else.

So here's what we'd actually do. Tip everything out on the bed — yes, really, don't just think about doing it (Ok but perhaps put a towel down underneath) — and go through it like you're catching up with old friends rather than doing an audit. Some you'll be delighted to rediscover. Others you'll pick up and think, huh, why do I still have this. That mascara's been open since some point in summer you can no longer accurately place. Perhaps even the summer before. That foundation — the dry-patch offender — might just be the one that's had its moment.

Once the pile's sorted, resist replacing everything at once because it’s about buying your way back to organised. If we were choosing just one thing to bring into the new season, it's the one that's actually built to solve the dry-patch problem at the source: our Skin Repair Perfect Canvas Treatment Foundation SPF30. It leans on Hyaluronic Acid to keep skin genuinely hydrated through the day, rather than just sitting on top of dry patches and making them more obvious. As well as Shea Butter and nourishing botanical oils that do the quiet work of keeping skin comfortable, not tight or flaky, wherever your skin tends to get difficult. Buildable, medium-to-full coverage means you're not choosing between "enough coverage" and "not caking into the dry bits". Yes, for once, it's both. SPF30 comes along for the ride too, which matters more this time of year than people think.

Everything else? A bit of definition, a touch more warmth through the cheek, can follow once that's sorted, because there's not much point building a look on a foundation that isn't actually working with your skin.

The best version of a reset are better steps, more than extra ones. Five honest minutes with what you own, and one proper swap where it actually counts… that's a fresh start we can get behind, whatever the calendar says.
