Wedding Guest Makeup Ready: A Long Lasting, Photo Ready Routine That Still Looks Like You

Long lasting makeup comes down to one thing: layering cream and powder correctly.

We have all sat in a makeup chair worrying we will not look like ourselves. For events like weddings, that matters even more. You want to feel confident, polished and like you, just elevated.

This summer, skip the guesswork. Use products you know and trust, and practise a routine that you can rely on. This is a failsafe event makeup look that stays in place, looks beautiful in photographs and lasts all day.

Step 1. Prep Properly

For long lasting makeup, prep is everything.

Apply your moisturiser around an hour before your makeup if you can. This allows it to fully absorb into the skin, rather than sitting on the surface.

If skincare is still too fresh, it can mix with your base and break it down throughout the day. Letting it settle first gives you a smoother, longer lasting finish.

Step 2. Prime with Skin Lift Glow-plexion Primer and Highlighter

We all know Skin Lift Glow-plexion Primer and Highlighter for its smoothing and radiance. But what is often overlooked is that it contains an eight hour binding agent, which helps grip your makeup and hold everything in place for longer. Definitely handy during an emotional ceremony!

Apply across the face to create a smooth, softly radiant base that keeps your makeup looking fresh.

Step 3. Build Your Base with Skin Repair Perfect Canvas Treatment Foundation SPF30

This is where longevity really starts to build. Skin Repair Perfect Canvas Treatment Foundation SPF30 offers full coverage, long wear and a buildable texture that still looks like skin.

Apply evenly across the face, building coverage where needed. It photographs beautifully and holds up throughout a full day of events (yes that also means when you're on the dance floor after a few glasses of champagne!).

Step 4. Start with Eyes

This might feel different, but apply your base first, then move onto the eyes.

This allows you to see how your skin is looking and adjust the rest of your makeup accordingly, keeping everything balanced. The I Radiance Eye Palette is ideal for event makeup, as it contains everything you need, without overcomplicating it.

Start with the cream primer across the lid. This step is key for longevity, helping to prevent creasing, smudging and movement. Apply the neutralising shade across the lid to create an even base for blending. Then take the contour shade and place it just above the socket line, blending softly to add shape and lift.

Use the deepest shade along the upper and lower lash line to add definition. Finish with the gold accent shade placed in the centre of the lid or inner corner to brighten and catch the light. And what does a gorgeously timeless, smoky eye go with? Every outfit.

Step 5. Conceal with Hydra Lift Concealer

Now return to the skin. Hydra Lift Concealer has the perfect balance of coverage and flexibility for long wear. Apply under the eyes and to any areas that need additional coverage, taking care not to disturb your eye makeup.

This helps brighten and lift whilst maintaining a natural finish. Definitely one to keep with you for the morning-after, too!

Step 6. Add Warmth with Perfect Bronze Glow-plexion Bronzer and Highlighter

Use a long lasting cream bronzer like our Perfect Bronze Glow-plexion Bronzer and Highlighter which melts seamlessly into the skin. Blend into the hairline and across the tops of the cheekbones to add warmth and shape.

It also looks beautiful applied across the chest, especially with lower necklines, helping to tie the whole look together - perfect for those wedding guest photos!

Step 7. Add Freshness with Plumping Blush Glow-plexion

Blush brings life back into the skin. Plumping Blush Glow-plexion gives a natural, healthy flush that feels perfect for summer events.

Apply to the tops of the cheeks, blending upwards towards the temples to create a lifted effect.

Step 8. Set with Refining Silk Radiance Powder

This is what locks everything in.

Apply Refining Silk Radiance Powder to set all cream products and prevent movement throughout the day.

Use the translucent side across the face to set. Then take the glow side and apply it where you want added radiance, under the eyes or across the tops of the cheekbones.

This keeps skin set, but never flat. Perfect for the table selfie sessions!

Step 9. Finish the Eyes

Now return to the eyes to complete the look. Use I-Lift Longwear Kajal Liner to define the upper lash line and waterline. Then apply the highlighting end to the inner corners to brighten and open the eyes.

Finish with a generous coat of mascara on both top and bottom lashes for definition.

Step 10. Perfect the Lips

Using Lip Perfecting Plumping Lip Pencil, begin with the highlighting end.

Apply just above the natural lip line where light would naturally hit. This subtly enhances volume and lift without looking overdrawn. Blend softly so the effect looks seamless and natural.

Then use the lip toned shade to define the lips. Focus on slightly enhancing the centre of the top and bottom lip, where fullness naturally sits. Keep the corners softer or slightly under-drawn to avoid dragging the face downwards.

Follow with your lip product, applying to the centre of the lips to create a fuller, more dimensional finish. Wake Up and Glow Lip and Cheek Tint or Peptide Serum Treatment Balm Gloss both work beautifully here.

Step 11. Step Back and Check

This is the step most people skip.

Take a step back from the mirror and assess your makeup as a whole. Check for anything unblended or anything that needs softening. Add powder only where needed.

A great tip is to take a quick photo on your phone, preferably in natural light by a window as it helps you see how your makeup will look in real life and in photographs.

The Result

Makeup that stays in place, skin that looks smooth, radiant and natural.

A look that feels like you, just more confident. Ready for any event, from a beautiful ceremony to a fun and laughter-fuelled evening.
