Master Transition Style

Already June! And with the official beginning of summer almost here, I was planning to write a piece about the best summer dresses that are out there at the moment.

But with the weather being so typically unpredictable – from blazing sunshine to driving rain in a matter of days – we're a long way off dresses!

It can be difficult to know what to wear when our fickle British weather is so changeable, but there is an art to transitional dressing, which I discovered when I caught up with my good friend Jacynth Bassett of The

Wearing layers lets you switch up or down as the weather dictates. A white cami paired with a pretty, floaty blouse under a chunky knit can cover (almost) every eventuality.

CHOOSE: I’m obsessed with the Keejse by Katja Blouse, £103. This playful print not only sets it apart as an investment piece, it offers a number of accent colours for you to highlight with the rest of your outfit options, while the crisp white keeps it smart and summery. It's great with leather trousers and high heels for a night out and I love how it dresses up a pair of jeans for a touch of daytime chic.

Sleeveless clothes can be risky, especially in variable temperatures, so a short or cropped sleeve is the solution. Instead of cotton, consider light pure wool, which works with your body to keep you warm and without overheating if the day gets humid!

CHOOSE: This cutesy jumper from Baum und Pferdgarten, £169, is perfect. The cropped sleeves and ribbed edges give shape to this jumper, whilst the red dots add a playful edge. Luxurious mohair and wool help to add a sense of luxury to this versatile wardrobe staple. I love to wear it with flared capris and my Stan Smiths and it works really well with a contrasting shirt underneath. And my favourite look is to wear it with a floral maxi skirt and a denim jacket!

I LIVE in chunky knits! Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean you won't need them for when the weather suddenly turns a bit cooler. They’re perfect for when I visit the coast, or those nights of chilled rosé and alfresco dining!

CHOOSE: The Chance Cropped Sleeve Jumper, £169, is such a modern twist on the chunky knit trend. I love the block colour. Wear with wide-leg linen trousers and a chiffon slip-top, or around your shoulders over the essential summer maxi to make the most of it. This is one jumper I will be taking to Wilderness (best festival ever!) this year!
